Peter Lim donates $1 million SGD in food for frontline healthcare workers

The VCF majority shareholder will help feed staff involved in the battle against COVID-19 in his Singapore

Valencia CF majority shareholder Peter Lim has made a further contribution to the fight against COVID-19, showing support for hospital staff in his homeland of Singapore.

Mr. Lim will cover $1 million (approx. 650,000 euros) worth of meals for hospital staff, as part of the 'Food For Frontline' initiative. can enjoy in a show of appreciation and support for their work during the pandemic.

Hospitals benefitting from the scheme are: Alexandra Hospital, Changi General Hospital, Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, KK Women's and Children's Hospital, National University Hospital, Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, Sengkang General Hospital, Singapore General Hospital, Tan Tock Seng Hospital and the National Centre for Infectious Diseases.

At least 20,000 workers will be given food vouchers, valid at around 160 participating food outlets in the country. Special attention was given in his announcement to the likes of housekeeping staff, patient care assistants and ambulance drivers, who were described as 'unsung heroes' of the current healthcare crisis. Such workers will be given priority in the initiative.

"He hopes that these meals will boost the morale of these front-line healthcare workers and bring them some comfort in this difficult period," said Mr.Lim's office in the statement, released on Friday.

Mr. Lim has previously made several charitable donations for the cause, including making the hotels that he co-owns in Manchester, England, available for hospital workers there.
